Nowadays (2018) there is only one public house left in the village  the Cannon Inn.

The Exeter Inn was the oldest of the public houses:

The Turks Head

This old pub was demolished in the 1960s to allow the main road to be widened.

The Victoria Inn used to stand in the middle of Newton Poppleford, where Central Garage is today.  We do not have any photographs but if you have any we should be very grateful to borrow a copy to scan for our archives.
