The Villages . . .

Walk along Newton Poppleford High Street and Station Road and you can see some buildings dating back to the 14th century.  Many houses came later, with most perhaps built in the 19th century; of course there have been later additions and the village is growing to accommodate the increasing population and the next generations.

In earlier centuries Harpford was the larger village and was the main parish, with Newton Pop being part of the Aylesbeare parish.

Venn Ottery and Southerton are small hamlets to the north of Newtonn Poppleford, also with some interesting old builldings.
